TeachYourDog.com helps dog owners find and contact dog trainers. This policy explains what information we collect through the site, how we use it, and who can see it.
Information we collect
- Trainer accounts and profiles: registration and contact details, business and service information, photos, and information entered into a public trainer profile.
- Customer inquiries: name, email address, optional phone number and ZIP code, optional dog details, and the message sent to a trainer.
- Reviews: reviewer name and email address, rating, optional title, review text, and any trainer response.
- Trainer reports: the reporter's name, email address, type of concern, and details submitted through the private report form.
- Site operation: session information needed for sign-in and form protection. Our hosting service may also record standard technical details such as IP address, browser information, requested pages, and access times in server logs.
- Site analytics: Google Analytics collects information about visits and use of site pages, including registration and sign-in, which may include pages viewed, browser and device details, approximate location, and online identifiers. We configure Analytics page URLs without query strings so personalized invitation details in those URLs are not sent as page addresses.
How we use information
We use account and profile information to operate trainer listings and dashboards. We use inquiry information to deliver a message to the selected trainer, show it in that trainer's inquiry dashboard, and send a receipt to the customer. We use review information to check submissions, publish approved reviews, and allow trainers to respond. We use private trainer reports to review concerns about listings or services and decide whether action is needed. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use site pages and improve the site. We also use information to protect the site from spam, troubleshoot problems, and respond to support or privacy requests.
Who can see information
When you send an inquiry, the selected trainer and TeachYourDog.com administrators can see the information you provide. Approved reviews display the reviewer's name, rating, title if provided, review text, and any trainer response on the public trainer profile. Reviewer email addresses are used for review administration and are not shown publicly. Trainer reports are visible to site administrators, are not posted publicly, and are not sent to the trainer automatically. We may share information when necessary to review a concern or meet applicable obligations. Public trainer profiles display the business information and contact details the trainer chooses to publish.
Our hosting and email providers may process information to operate the site and deliver site emails. Google processes site analytics information when you visit public pages; see Google's Privacy Policy. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the site and its users. We do not currently use advertising pixels, payment tools, or a newsletter service, and we do not sell personal information.
Cookies and sessions
The site uses session technology for account sign-in and form security. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies to measure visits to site pages. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may prevent sign-in or form submission.
How long we keep information
We do not currently have a fixed retention period for accounts, inquiries, reviews, and trainer reports. We keep information while needed to operate the site, manage listings and submissions, address disputes or misuse, and meet applicable obligations. You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your information; some information may need to be kept where applicable law or legitimate operational needs require it.
Security
We use measures intended to protect information and restrict access to account and administrative areas. No website or method of transmission can guarantee complete security.
Other websites
Trainer profiles may link to trainers' own websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Please review their policies when you visit them.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date.
